FAQ’s
(Click on each question for the answer.)What are the primary differences between PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT AND CONTRACTORS SOLVENT? +
Both products are outstanding and similar but there are distinct differences.
PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT™ can be used on running electrical motors and has a dielectric strength exceeding 50,000 volts. PRO CONTRACTORS SOLVENT™ should not be used around electrical currents.
PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT™ prefers a mild soap and water rinse while PRO CONTRACTORS SOLVENT™ can be rinsed with water.
Both products are stronger versions of CITRUS SOLUTION and remove tough challenges including caulk, cured silicone, water seal, roofing and road tar, asphalt and fresh expanding insulation foam. Both are also excellent in parts washers. With 100% active ingredients, no harmful vapors and no water, parts can be submersed for longer periods of time with no risk of rust. PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT can be recirculated, reclaimed and reused even after the product appears dark and soiled.
Can I use MECHANICS SOLVENT on my automobile to remove sap, asphalt, tar and bumper or window stickers? +
YES. PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT will not harm dry paint or clear-coat finishes. This product is an excellent wax remover so after removing asphalt, grease and tar, you may want to rewax your vehicle. To clean interior stains, use the instructions for carpeting and upholstery. PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT may also be used on vinyl and non-tinted glass since tint is usually applied with adhesive. Be sure to wash PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT off vinyl and rubber surfaces after use.
Can I use MECHANICS SOLVENT on heated surfaces such as engines? +
YES, just make sure the heated item is cool before using PRO MECHANICS SOLVENT on it and be sure to rinse the product completely off before reheating the item.
